Moon Nodes as turning points in life and biography
Moon nodes in your life story mark turning points and invite you to consciously reflect on your own biography.
In today’s newsletter I would like to share with you a topic that has fascinated me for many years: the noon, or lunar nodes and their significance in our biographies.
Note: In my podcast in German language I speak about this in more detail. In it I also mention my personal observations and experiences. So it’s worth listening to the podcast as well.
I am not a professional “biography worker” myself - I know many of you are - , but I draw my thoughts from my own observations and experiences. Those biography workers are highly trained, write books, and coach people in shaping their lives—I, on the other hand, am reporting here from a very personal perspective.
Lunar nodes as turning points
We go through different rhythms in our lives. There are the 10 year periods, or the 7 year periods, which are both significant. I find the lunar nodes, which complete their cycle approximately every 18 years and 9 months, particularly exciting. In my view, they mark decisive turning points in life:
First lunar node (approx. 18 years): Our ideals and dreams emerge clearly. It can act as a kind of reminder of the impulses we had – still unconsciously – at birth. We ask ourselves: “What do I actually want in life?” “What interests me, what inspires me?” For me, this was a phase full of athletic discipline and spiritual searching – from Bruce Lee and Jeet Kune Do to Taoism and Laozi, Zen Buddhism and Anthroposophy. Practical learning on the one hand and inner learning on the other then had a strong influence on the rest of my life.
Second Moon Node (approx. 37 years): During this time, many people find their professional calling. After years of trying things out and learning, you take on bigger tasks that can carry you into your 50s. For me, it was a career change to Triodos Bank in the Netherlands, where I worked for the next 15 years, in the Netherlands as Fund Manager for private equity investments, and in Germany as Managing Director establishing and building up the Triodos Bank Office in Frankfurt am Main.
Third Moon Node (approx. 56 years): This is about reevaluation and letting go. You should consciously review everything you have done so far and consider: “Do I continue doing the same thing – but differently? Or do I start something completely new?” This phase of letting go and working through things is crucial for a healthy, fulfilling life into your 70s and beyond.
Personal experiences
With my own third lunar node came a profound realization: I had to learn to take myself more seriously, to take good care of myself, and to consciously work through my life so far. It was a phase of processing pain—my own and that which I meant others had inflicted on me. I had a great inner emptiness and had to learn to fill it myself by being on my own, spending time only with myself, instead of covering it up with “external” activity. This inner work has led me to greater inner freedom.
Conclusion
The Moon’s nodes can inspire us to pause
and examine the direction of our lives. Those who recognize the signatures of these phases can often better understand crises and consciously shape new stages of life.
I hope my thoughts inspire you to take a look at your own rhythms of life. Perhaps you will discover a new chapter waiting for you.
Thank you for reading, and see you next time!
Warm regards
